Fogón serves the same nine-course tasting at lunch and dinner, so there's no better or lesser version — the choice is about your day. Lunch starts at 12:30 and dinner at 20:00, and each runs about two hours with everyone seated together. Whichever you pick, arrive on time: the seating starts as a block and the fire has been building for hours.
The case for lunch
The lunch seating is often the easier one to book at shorter notice, and it suits visitors who'd rather keep evenings free for Buenos Aires's famously late dinners, tango or bars. Nine courses at midday is a substantial meal, so plan a light breakfast and a slow afternoon — Palermo's parks and shops are close by, and a walk through the Bosques de Palermo afterwards is the natural next step.
The case for dinner
The dinner seating is the atmospheric one: the room around the fire feels most like the theatre it's designed to be after dark, and 20:00 is early by Buenos Aires standards, so you'll finish a little after ten with the neighbourhood's bars just getting going. It's also the seating that sells out first, particularly Thursday to Saturday and through the southern spring and summer, so book it as soon as your dates are set.
Fitting it around the rest of Buenos Aires
Because the tasting is a full two-hour sitting and a big meal, it works best as the anchor of a day rather than one stop among many. A lunch seating pairs with an afternoon in Palermo's parks or an evening tango show elsewhere; a dinner seating pairs with a daytime visit to Recoleta or San Telmo and a lighter lunch. Avoid booking a second big meal or an early-morning departure straight after.
